Story

Synopsis

Valerie is seeking a rich life. In the metropolis, people lack the grand ideas. She finds those in the alternative commune, but there, in the name of liberation, new violence is exerted. So she walks deep into the forest where the eremite is living. But working in his garden, Valerie finally feels bored, and moves on.

Scene 1 — Dance of Indifference on sunrise*

Valerie has fallen asleep on a party. It‘s early morning, and the other party people dither relentlessly (sleeping or eating or drinking or smoking). Varie wakes up and needs the lavatory. Thrustfully, she crosses the chaotic room, and another, larger room where there is some music.
She pees; it is silent and bright on the toilet. Karl, who has been sleeping in the filled bath tub, wakes up, and is irritated. Valerie joins him and slips into the bath tub.

Scene 2 „golden hour“ (after sunrise or before sunset)

Both, again in the bath tub. They know each other for some time now. Karl is filing an architectural gesso model: he is architect with attention to detail. Valerie is not interested. She exits the bath tub and gets some coffee. Finally, people are drawing curves lines on the floor. Sounds of railways and airplanes.

Scene 3 noon

Valerie has just arrived with some luggage. A large meadow with a tree. Sitting on a stone, she watches some communards in bright autumn coloured garments who bury an urn (maybe her father‘s ash). Old Theo, friend of her Father‘s, joins her, and together with the others, they climb the hill to the commune.

Scene 4 — Dance of the Radical Dignity sunset

The commune is filled with spirits of life and beauty. An unknown person all in tears embraces Valerie. First, she is a bit shocked, but then she hugs her back. They all feast and then dance: life, death, rain… Valerie hovers through the colours to the lake. She plunges, and underwater, the dance continues.

„blue hour“ (before sunrise or after sunset)

On the island, they strand. Everybody sit or lie down in the grass, make music, chat, or cuddle. Valerie watches them, and walks on a bit. There she sees someone who is caressed by others, but is not responding to the touch. She feels bad about that person who tries to escape, but is caressed further.

Scene 5 „golden hour“

Early morning. She is now in the forest of fog. The grass is covered with water, out of which old trees protude. Valerie sings a calm song of the wind.

Scene 6 sunset

In the lonesome shack, the eremite stands and looks outside. He ignites his gas stove for wayfarer Valerie who is coming.
Tired and content after the long walk, she knocks and comes in. Without a word, the eremite gives her a soup. He is neither curious nor annoyed. Both eat their soup as the sun sets.

Scene 7 noon

High noon. Heavy work gardening, woodcutting with the silent ermite. From time to time, Valerie‘s thoughts digress.

Scene 8 night

At night. Valerie is lying in bed and watching the reflection of the moon in a puddle. This brings back memories.

Scene 9 „golden hour“

In the morning, Valerie is working by the river. She has fetched some of the firewood and built herself a raft.
THE END.
